Boating and Recreation Site Launches Affiliate Program
Indianapolis, IN (PRWEB) November 5, 2007 -- LakeTrash.com, the online water enthusiast community, has announced the launch of their new affiliate program offering website owners 20% commission on all merchandise sales they refer for items such as clothing, coolers and other outdoor items available in the LakeTrash.com online store.
In addition to merchandise commissions, LakeTrash.com is also offering affiliates $.50 for every membership signup they refer. Second tier affiliates will also earn 30% of all commissions earned by affiliates they refer to the program.
An affiliate program is part of an effort to extend the reach of the LakeTrash.com online advertising presence into sites that end users interested in lake recreation might visit on a regular basis. To facilitate the growth and management of the program, LakeTrash.com has chosen AffiliateTraction to provide the software, affiliate support, tracking, payment preparation and promotion of the program.
Greg Shepard, CEO of AffiliateTraction, was enthusiastic about taking on the LakeTrash.com program. "We think LakeTrash.com is a great opportunity because first, it's fun. There's no doubt about that. Plus, we have a well-known name in auto racing as the owner of the site and some great products to promote? and that Cruzin' Cooler they have is a great attention grabber ? perfect for an affiliate program."
The "well-known" name in racing is Rick Treadway, and visitors shouldn't be surprised if they see a picture of him and two time Indy 500 champion Arie Luyendyk battling it out on Cruzin' Coolers, which are ice chests that have somehow sprouted wheels and double as party-mobiles. This is just one example of why LakeTrash.com presents a "unique and attractive offer for affiliates to promote", as Shepard stated.
An affiliate program allows website owners to sign up and receive advertisements to run on their own site. Rather than traditional advertising models where the merchant pays for advertising regardless of how well it works, an affiliate program pays the publisher on a performance basis. Special software tracks when a visitor has clicked through an advertisement and gone on to make a purchase or complete a desired action. The software then pays the website owner who placed the advertisement a commission on the transaction.
As Shepard clarified, "Anyone with a website can join an affiliate program. If one of the visitors clicks through the link we provide and makes a purchase, the affiliate earns a commission?. And in this case, we also are paying out a commission on a membership signup, so that even if they don't buy any merchandise, the affiliate still gets $.50 from each signup. On a site with a lot of traffic this can all add up to large sums of money."
